Cookies for Kids’ Cancer is in the running for a Jimmie Johnson/Helmet of Hope grant for $20,000 to go towards pediatric cancer research. I’ve been blasting this like crazy over Facebook and Twitter, and figured a blog post couldn’t hurt either.

TODAY is the last day for voting, and we’re literally neck-and-neck with another charity. To give you insight as to the effects of such grants, Larry Witt, one of the co-founders of CFKC (and an OXO’s VP) has quoted:

This is about as good as it gets my friends. One of the research projects Cookies funded has cleared FDA approval and is recruiting patients to start a phase 1 clinical trial in a few weeks! OXO’s efforts helped make it possible and Liam might very well be in a position to try this therapy later this year. We have been told that a child we know and love is going to be the very first child to get this therapy. I am sharing with all of you because many of you have been supporting our efforts to win the Jimmie Johnson grant as well as to support OXO’s bake sale efforts. Your [continued] efforts really do make a difference. The next phase of this project will cost $50,000. Winning the Jimmie Johnson Grant will go a long way toward covering the cost of supporting such research.

For those of you who do not know, CFKC is an non-profit very dear to the hearts of OXO employees as the organization was started by two OXO employees, when their son was diagnosed with a nearly fatal form of pediatric cancer over three years ago. I’ve been very fortunate to be involved with bake sales hosted by OXO the past two years. (Stay tuned, as we’ve got another bake sale coming up in less than two weeks!)

So if you haven’t previously voted, please do so today, as it’s the last day of the competition, and we’re literally 1% in the lurch. It’s a simple procedure, no signup is involved. You can vote from different computers/devices, different browsers etc. You can even clear out your cookies and do it again!!!! And please share with family, friends, coworkers etc. Reblog, retweet, and so on and so forth. Every vote counts!!
