Favorite Things: I LV LV LV Autumn
The autumnal feel is slowly moving over New York City. I found these photographs independent of the other, and had one of those memory (game) moments.
{above} A lovely snap from stylist Paul Lowe’s second issue e-mag, Sweet Paul Magazine. I was introduced to the Sweet Paul creative empire by my gal pal over at Craven Maven. Sweet Paul originated as a blog and has since expanded into a...

Cookies for Kids' Cancer Needs Your Votes!!
Cookies for Kids’ Cancer is in the running for a Jimmie Johnson/Helmet of Hope grant for $20,000 to go towards pediatric cancer research. I’ve been blasting this like crazy over Facebook and Twitter, and figured a blog post couldn’t hurt either.
TODAY is the last day for voting, and we’re literally neck-and-neck with another charity. To give you insight as to the effects...

Favorite Things: A Literary Trifecta
There’s nothing I like more than a good book. I’m a hoarder of books, ardently afraid of purchasing one of those fandangled i-readers. I love the exchange of books, the gifting and receiving of a recommended novel. I love even more books that are picked out by friends, just for me.
A little mid-week plug for some novels in my queue (two, birthday gifts from friends):
1. The Keep by...

Weekend Eats: Pies Pies, Ohmy!
Although this post is a tad bit post-weekend, I thought I should share the gastronomical epicenter of my birthday weekend celebrations: enter pies from Four & Twenty Blackbirds.
From left to right: Apple Pear Pie, Lemon Chess Pie, Buttermilk Chess Pie
Four & Twenty opened their shoppe a week or so after KB and I moved to the Slope (technically Gowanus). We were super amped that...

New & Notable: Flat Vernacular
I met Brian from one hot August day whilst drinking waaay too many-a-libations at Txikito post work. He, a charming bartender, is also the co-owner of an up and coming wallpaper company named, quite perfectly, Flat Vernacular. In fact, I saw some of his custom work affixed to the walls in the loo. Commode aside, it was breathtaking; I seem to remember a decorative, almost...

Moodboard Monday: Holy Boot in Black
In celebration of the start of fall tomorrow, and my plight for the perfect black boot, I bring you a collection of some of my favorites (I’ll keep it short and sweet while I plot ways to make more cash to fuel my shoe habit, like selling my eggs):
1. Loeffler Randall Riley Flat Zip Boot: The perfect, and only tall boot I’ll every truly love. Typically I feel like a peter pan reject...

Weekend Eats: Bike Blender & Homemade Gazpacho...
Bike blenders aren’t necessarily new technology (I just googled a plethora of articles about them), but they are pretty flippin’ neat, and this was the first time I’ve actually seen one in action.
This contraption was being used today as a gazpacho soup making demo via GrowNYC’s Greenmarket program in Williamsburg/Greenpoint, Brooklyn. I incidentally work flowers right...

New & Notable: Kneeland Co.
I consider myself a sifter by nature. I’ve always had a penchant for vintage things (that was prior to this whole nyc bedbug scare ) and love to collect unique things. Throw me into Smiley’s Antique Mall, and I could spend hours piddling around. This is how I acquired my deer-hoof coat [gun] rack hanging above the entrance to mine and Kb’s bedroom and my random assortment of...

Calling All NYC/NJ Bakers & Bakeries!!
Cookies for Kids’ Cancer is an amazing organization I’ve been fortunate enough to be involved with the past two years I’ve worked at OXO. Each year OXO hosts a giant bake sale in the Starrett Lehigh building (home to Martha, Tommy Hilfiger, Bodum, and a range of other bigtime companies) that raises money for pediatric cancer research. The past two years have been a huge...

Moodboard Monday: Brooke's 28th Birthday
It’s Moodboard Monday folks. And considering I’ll be turning the ripe old age of 28 in a couple of weeks, I thought I’d whip together my annual visual wishlist to pass around to those I can typically score presents out of, (wink wink..kb). I kid. I kid…
1. Hayden Harnett Welles Large Hobotote in Dusk: Truth be told, I bought this bag for myself back in June. I lusted over...
