His & Hers: Woolrich Woolen Mills Parkas
Was making myself crack up earlier thinking of some cheeky tag for this post. How does Parkas Cozy strike you? Get it? Not enough immediate reference? Think John Waters…yeah… Anyhow, bravo for Woolrich Woolen Mills and their very understated, yet classically refined outerwear series. I spied the femme version of this coat over the weekend on some hapless black-friday shopper.  His...

CARACOLA: Italian Futurism Spring 2011 Collection
Llamas are attracted to shiny things, and so am I. My ohmygodilovethis! radar went off the charts when I spied these light-refracting suits. Reminds me a little of Mad Men’s whole “Are you a Marilyn or a Jackie?” Playtex bra campaign. I am especially enamored of the Little Mermaid suit (no. 2) below. Can you tell I’m super excited about the pending NY winter?? {No. 1}...

Favorite Things: Melanie Bilenker Jewelry
I have this eerie attraction to mourning jewelry (and antique shops); In my time, I’ve stumbled upon a handful of Victorian-era rings set with human teeth, and lockets and/or brooches capturing a snip of hair. The purpose of these pieces of jewelry being to preserve the memory of a lost love. On a more contemporaneous note, a company called LifeGem offers services that create diamonds by...

Happy Weekend: Flora Douville Illustrations
I fear I am coming down with some sort of bug, I have a tickle in my throat…and have been having one of those uber life-sensitive weeks.  Flora Douville’s napping fella above echoes my projected weekend sentiments exactly.  Have a lovely weekend everyone!

In the Kitchen: Fauxstess Cupcakes
My curlicues could definitely use some refining (especially compared to Annie’s Eats); Amateur piping aside, these were delicious. And I’m not even a chocolate lover.  Chocolate Cream Cupcakes (aka Fauxstess Cupcakes) via Cook’s Country Best Country Recipies magazine. The recipe appears online HERE  (be forewarned there’s a signup involved, though painless.) {above}...

Favorite Things: 24 Golden Rings
Weddings are abuzz, that’s for sure…and it’s cause for an internal struggle: pitting pragmatic-me against insane planner-me, vying for my collective self not to pre-plan an entire event when there’s not even a proposal (yet) on the table.  Admittedly though, KB and I did some very premature ring shopping this weekend (his idea!!). I hit up this spot and this one. The...

New & Notable: An interview with Lisa Bruno of...
Lisa Bruno is the face behind the burgeoning folk-group Brooklyn Contra. She’s spent six years contra-ing her way through North Carolina and now is bringing the hootenanny to Brooklyn. For those of you who don’t know, contra is a type of dance…think square dancing but done in long ballroom-esque lines. Contra has recently been gaining quite some momentum with the younger...

Favorite Fridays: ☁'s Closet Visit with Joanna...
Remember my post about Kneeland Co., the LA-based company that serves as a physical mood board/inspiration point for all you stylist-designer types?? Well, I was happy to see that founder/owner Joanna Williams was featured on artist Jeana Sohn’s blog in a very intimate photo-essay about her very well-curated closet…gasp.   Such a stylish gal! Pop on over to Jeana Sohn’s...

Favorite Things: MUD Australia Porcelain
One of my very favorite places is Lost and Found Props, located in Chelsea, NY. I happened to be there today picking up a few decorative ramequins for a photoshoot scheduled tomorrow. To me, the most impressive thing about their array of shabby-chic items is the seemingly endless rows of shelves upon shelves (as far as the eye can see) of tabletop items, all organized by color and type of vessel....
